The Xbox chief in Microsoft, Phil Spencer, wants Xbox Games to be interpreted on any platform, anywhere, even falling insinuations that maybe this could be a reality for rival consoles, or at least it would be open to explore that avenue.
This revelation emerged as part of a meat interview with our sister Gamesradar site in which Spencer spoke more broadly on Xbox’s philosophy that is not a console, but a game platform that will be enjoyed on multiple devices. As a measure of how serious it is Microsoft about this, of course, we can see the recent Xbox Game game announcement, reaching smart TV.
Gamesradar to the Grill Spencer in the perspective of an Xbox application that comes to the Nintendo switch, something that has been rumored as a possibility of boiling before, who answered: “You know, is the right question because people usually ask me about Liberation. An individual game or another. And what I say is that I want the full Xbox experience to be something we deliver.
“We do not have plans to take it to any other type of platforms closed at this time, mainly because those closed platforms do not want something like the passage of the game. There are a lot of open platforms so that we grow: the web, the PC and the mobile phone. So all our approach, frankly, is on those platforms. “
Spencer clarifies even more: “That’s not a blow on anyone who has a system that works for them. I can see why the interruption of the game of the game is not something they want at this time.” But then he adds: “In the end, when we say that we want everyone to play in Xbox, we really mean that if we can bring that full experience to a device that players want, we are totally open to those discussions.”
There is not much to stay here, then, but there is certainly an indication that it is not ruled out that Xbox Game Pass could finally end up on the switch, or even PS5. Is that really likely that it reaches fruition, however?
Analysis: Change things – a check reality
We would not have breathing with respect to Xbox games that can be played on the switch or PS5. We do not mistake, it’s great to listen to Microsoft to continue pressing forward with an open philosophy when it comes to Xbox Game Pass. But to hope that the rival consoles get that an Xbox application feels like in future things, if there are “things” at all.
We have heard the merits of a possible Microsoft connection and Nintendo before, with the sense of making sense of players give players a way to play Xbox’s titles on the fly, and grant Nintendo a whole game raft more beyond your basic franchises. However, it still seems that a very distant pipe dream currently, in fact, more recent rumors firmly affirm that there is no Nintendo interest in an Xbox Cloud application that reaches the switch, and the PS5 is an even less likely perspective, of course .
Even so, Spencer’s most recent comments represent a brightness of hope that perhaps, only maybe, the future of videogames could be a much more open sand than we can now imagine.
