Intel may have thrown a quick in its industry rivals by buying most of the capacity of the 3NM node in TSMC to manufacture its new GPU and a series of server tokens, something that could inhibit AMD and Apple of the production of its own Next generation chips in 2022.
It is expected that production with the 3NM node starts at P2 2022, with mass production that is expected to begin in mid-2022, according to WCCFTECH. The production capacity would reach approximately 4,000 in May next year, with mass production capacity, increasing up to 10,000 wafers per month.
Intel, unlike AMD or Apple, has its own manufacturing plants that it uses for most of its chip production, although it has been fought in recent years to achieve the objectives of the Development Road Sheet. None of the processing orders of the 3NM nodes will be for their consumer market processors, namely, the Raptor Lake, which is expected to be launched by mid-2022.
Instead, reports indicate that product lines in the order will come out of their units of graphics and servers, specifically a new GPU and three new server processors, it is most likely XEON XEON processors meanings for centers data.
Analysis: Does the Intel Iris Xe card finally do it to production?
We still do not know much about any of these chips, although the GPU could be the long-standing Intel Intel Intel graphics card based on the company’s iris graphics processor.
The Intel Iris Xe graphics card has been in the works for a long time, but we have yet seen it beyond some prototypes and presentation material. However, if Intel is making a substantial investment in its graphics unit, and consuming a substantial piece of the capacity of the TSMC 3NM node in the process, then we hope that this is an indication that Intel’s discrete graphic card is in I walk to customers.
While we do not expect it, immediately, Dhrone AMD and NVIDIA in the graphic card space, converting things into a three-way fight instead of a head-to-head heading will push the three companies to innovate even more. This can only be good for players and other PC enthusiasts at the end, assuming we can always get our hands on any of these graphic cards first.
