Before acquiring Facebook, whatsapp was considered one of the safest main messaging services. That was thanks to its extreme end encryption that few of its rivals offered at that time. While a blessing for privacy and security, E2EE also has an unfortunate inconvenience that it is possible that whatsapp has not anticipated in those days. Now, the Facebook property chat platform is fixing that failure by allowing iPhone users with their chat history are completely to Android.
The announcement took place during the unpacking event of Samsung today today. Although it may seem like a strange moment, the phone maker did not use it as subtly as a strategy to help reduce the barrier to entry into the switching of an iPhone to a new Galaxy phone. While many iPhone users swear by Imessage, there are so many or perhaps even more than live in whatsapp.

While many messaging platforms allowed backup copies of chats and import them into another device, the key feature of whatsapp, ironically, made that almost impossible. E2EE required that the data is not only encrypted, but also stored locally on the device.
Fortunately, WhatsApp has made possible the impossible, and the transfer of chat between iPhones and Android phones is finally possible. More than just the text part of the chat history, the transfer will also move the photos and even the voice notes of one device to another.
This new feature is theoretically a two-way street, but, for now, everything begins to transfer from iOS to Android. The deployment should happen in the coming weeks, and the only difficult requirement is that the Android phone runs Android 10 or later, as well as the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
